Grey Skies II

Poem by Sandra Chukwudumebi Obiora. 13/10/2020 All rights reserved ©

The Melancholy of grey skies is something I seek after.

Desperate at times to find myself.

Desperate to remain in that blankness,

Desperate to flee bright skies.

This grey sky is a blanket of peace to me.

A blanket of cold and rain.

A blanket of bleakness and warmth.

An oxymoron of sorts.

Here I stand staring at grey skies.

Craving after grey skies,

Staring at the grey sky.

Repeating the mantra; ‘when blue skies come, I must not run away.’
